“For Sale”
We walked up to the old house
Excitement building high.
So long we had admired,
Now the sign said we could buy.
What pleasures would we find there?
What problems might there be?
Oh hurry, open up the door,
Turn quick, that great old key.
Our breaths were fairly taken
At the sight we witnessed there.
A spacious entry greeted us
With broad and winding stair.
Each room had high, high ceilings
Wide windows, ten feet tall.
Old house, we dearly love you
Your ghosts, your aches, your all.
Sold!
